I, Wally Huijbregts studied at the technical university at Delft and graduated in 1965, on material science, department Corrosion.

I was employed at KEMA (corrosion researcher, head of the corrosion research section and senior consultant in particularly for the Dutch electricity power industry). I was a member of the "Studie Kern Corrosie" (a discussion group of corrosion specialists in the Netherlands and I was chairman from 1986 up to 2001).

As senior consultant at KEMA I was involved in several arbitrage-cases on dew point corrosion, low NOx corrosion, corrosion in waist incineration plants, stress corrosion cracking and microbiological corrosion.

Since August 2000 I am retired from KEMA and started as one of my hobbies a corrosion consultant agency. On this web-site the literature reference list of 65 papers is given.

I consider as topics of my corrosion research:

Erosion Corrosion
A computer program for calculating the erosion-corrosion behaviour of carbon steels in water-steam flow conditions was developed .

Corrosion in waterwalls under heat-flux conditions
The influence of process conditions (like heat flux, mass flow, water -steam ratio, turbulences etc), water conditions (water treatment, condensor leakages, fouling etc) and material were studied extensively on laboratory scale, in pilot plants as well as in power stations at the location

Influence of composition of C-steel on corrosion
Small amounts of non alloying elements in the carbon steels appeared to have large influence on:

  1. corrosion in water wall tubes in case of chloride containing water.
  2. erosion corrosion in water steam mixtures (FAC calculation file)

The corrosion monitoring system KEMCOP
We invented at KEMA the discontinuous Corrosion monitoring technique KEMCOP® (KEMA Corrosion Probe) for following the quality of the fire-side oxide layer in coal fired boilers, waste incineration plants, Low NOx boilers and coal gasification systems. Enrichment of the radioactive lead deposits from condensation in coal fired boilers can be followed too with this technique.

Since 2009 I finished my corrosion consultant agency.

Nowadays I spent my time mainly on wood carving, ceramics and bronzes. See the websites on the page links.
